Tom Chapin

Tom Chapin headlining HOTAfest 2018

A three-time Grammy winner and veteran of Broadway, film , television and radio, Tom Chapin is "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music (New York Times). Chapin is known for his pioneering work in children's music but engages audiences of all ages with witty, infectious songs delivered in a sophisticated array of styles and sterling musicianship. His five-decade career was launched in the Greenwich Village folk clubs, performing with siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers. He has also hosted ABC-TV's Emmy and Peabody award-winning children's series Make a Wish, played the lead hit Broadway musical Pump Boys and Dinettes, and appeared in Jonathan Demme's remake of the Manchurian Candidate. Chapin has released 25 albums--most recently adult album Threads, narrated a series of children's books, and is a powerful advocate for the arts, environmental, and humanitarian causes. Website

Tom Paxton and the DonJuans

In his 56-year career, Tom Paxton, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, has released more than 50 albums and performed around the world. Now he joins forces with Grammy-winning duo Jon Vezner and Don Henry, known collectively as The Don Juans. Vezner and Henry's "Where've You Been," co-written with Kathy Mattea and performed by Mattea, was the first song ever to recognized by the Grammy Awards, the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, and the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Collectively, the threesome's work has been covered by Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Faith Hill, Harry Belafonte, Blake Shelton, Johnny Cash, and other luminaries. 

David Bromberg - Special July 16 Performance

David Bromberg

The Grammy-nominated guitar virtuoso, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter will give a special performance July 16. In addition to his own prolific career as a touring and recording artist, Bromberg has contributed his talents to albums by Bob Dylan, Carly Simon, the Eagles, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Gordon Lightfoot, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. 

The Early Mays Friday Night Performance

The Early Mays

The Mays (Emily Pinkerton, Ellen Gozion and Rachel Eddy) perform music "built on deep country sensibilities, masterful singing and a sweet old-time sound." They are first-prize winners in the Neo-Traditional Band Competition at Clifftop, the Appalachian String Band Music Festival. Website 

Fink, Marxer, Gleaves Friday Night Performance

Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer, and Sam Gleaves

With a repertoire ranging from traditional and contemporary folk to old-time country and swing music, HOTAfest veterans Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer have performed at the White House and on NPR, as well as lauded for their work with children. This year they are joined by Appalachian artist Sam Gleaves with whom they will release "Shout and Shine" featuring Appalachian music and contemporary songs. The trio keeps alive the tradition of singing for social justice while accompanying harmonies and driving square dance tunes with fiddle, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and guitar. Website 

Echo Valley

Echo Valley Family Band

Family band and festival veterans Echo Valley have delighted audiences throughout Western Pennsylvania with a variety of traditional bluegrass, gospel bluegrass, Celtic, and folk-style music. They have appeared at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, the St. Joseph's House of Hospitality Charity Bluegrass Concert, and at fairs throughout the region -- including performing with The Farm Hands at the Lawrence County Fair. Heart-warming and crowd-pleasing performers, Echo Valley released their second album, "Rise and Shine" this year.

Joe Thompson & Friends

Joe Thompson

Titusville native, Joe Thompson, honed his songwriting skills playing in New York City's finest clubs. After years of plying his craft on the stages of Austin, Texas Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Big Apple, Joe returned to his beloved hometown to start a family and work for the family business. As a third generation oil and natural gas producer, Joe is proud to call Titusville home. Website 

Lizzie and the Makers Saturday Performance


Lizzie & The Makers is a female-fronted rock band and New York City music scene staple. Belting out original, soulful blues/rock tunes evoking The Black Crowes, Bonnie Raitt and a hint of Led Zeppelin (for good measure), as well as an obscure jazz tune here and there, Lizzie has been a guest at many NYC all-star jams and brought the house down as the lead singer of her side project Lizzie and the Sinners. Website
