About Regional Music In-Service Training

A day-long session to include workshops on copyright law, promoting your music program, basic instrument repair  and performance/rehearsal suggestions from Erie Philharmonic staff, as well as sessions on music culture brain-based movement.


8:00 - 8:30 am - Registration

8:30 - 10:00 am - Rotation thru two sessions: African Drumming & Dance with professional teaching artists One World Tribe AND Copyright Law: What Music Teachers Need to Know with Attorney Jonathan D'Silva

10:15 - 11:00 am - Promoting Your Music Program with Steve Weiser, Executive Director of the Erie Philharmonic

11:00 am - 12:00 pm - Breakout Sessions

CHORAL: Presentation by C. Thomas Brooks, Erie Philharmonic Chorus
INSTRUMENTAL: Presentation by Jonathan Moser, Erie Junior Philharmonic
ELEMENTARY MUSIC: Bringing Brain-based Movement into Your Classroom, presented by Melany Myers and Sarah Oliver

12:00 - 1:30 pm - Networking Lunch

1:30 - 3:00 pm - Breakout Sessions

CHORAL: The Music of Harry T. Burleigh, presented by Sharon Downey, St. Paul Minister of Music & Performing Ensembles
INSTRUMENTAL: Basic Instrument Repair, presented by JB Salter, Presque Isle Brass
ELEMENTARY MUSIC: Link-up with the Erie Philharmonic, presented by Lisa Herring, Erie Philharmonic

(5) hours of Act 48 instructional time available.
