Erie Arts & Culture is seeking our next Executive Director.  CLICK HERE to access a position description. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director (ED) has overall strategic and operational responsibility for leading Erie Arts & Culture in promoting its mission to “strengthen the vibrancy and vitality of Erie region and enrich the lives of our people through the advancement of arts and culture.” The Executive Director will be responsible for management of the nonprofit’s staff, resource development, program management and fiscal oversight. This individual will develop a deep knowledge of core programs, operations, and business plans that support the mission in concert with the Board of Trustees. Erie's Blues & Jazz Marketing Internship

About:

Erie Arts & Culture is in search of marketing/event production interns for May-August of 2018, to assist in the production of Erie’s Blues & Jazz Festival. The internship is an unpaid opportunity to work on a large project for an Arts Non-profit. We would require you to work 10 hours a week, and be available to work the Festival (August 3-5, 2018).

 

Erie’s Blues & Jazz Festival has been a staple Summer event in the Erie community for the last 25 years. The Festival is in a transitional period, as Erie Arts & Culture takes over the production from The Erie Art Museum. While some things will be changing (we will feature more local art, food, and music, and expand our use of Frontier Park), others remain the same. The festival will still be held the first weekend of August (3-5, 2018) at Frontier Park, and John Vanco will stay on as the Festival’s Artistic Director. The Festival is run mostly by volunteer committees (marketing, artistic, development, etc.), and the intern would be mainly working under the producer of the festival.

Creative:

  • Help in distributing marketing materials for shows, including posters, postcards, save the dates, and invites

  • Work with other interns/artistic committee/marketing committee/poster artist to design and create backdrop for stage

  • Assist in managing and maintaining festival website and social media accounts

  • Assist in managing and executing social media strategies for Festival

  • Brainstorm Kickstarter reward ideas, launch party ideas, help to promote the Kickstarter and make the site easily accessible

On-Site Event Production (For Kickstarter Launch and Festival)

  • Provide on-site event assistance, including running errands, delivering food, talent wrangling, printing show docs, helping guests with any questions, etc.

  • Assist with on-site event set up (varying responsibilities including but not limited to, managing Kickstarter reward pick-ups, working the Festival’s Info tent with other volunteers, setting up chairs/tables, setting up signage, etc.)

 

Skills Needed:

  • Organized, detail-oriented and creative

  • Strong multi-tasking abilities

  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills

  • Strong ability to work independently

  • Interest in the Arts

  • Previous event production experience is a plus (theater, fundraising events, etc.)

  • Graphic Design experience a plus

Responsibilities Two Weeks Prior to Festival:

  • Help with production of stage backdrop

  • Assist in finalizing festival guide

  • Create production materials for volunteer staff (signs, parking permits, informational packets)

  • Assist volunteer coordinator with the volunteer scheduling

  • Become familiar with festival set-up and production

On-Site Production:

  • Provide on-site event assistance, including running errands for Backstage Manager, delivering food, talent wrangling, printing show docs, helping guests with any questions, etc.

  • Keep an up to date Run of Show, and assist with keeping the programming running as scheduled

  • Assist with on-site event set up (varying responsibilities including but not limited to, managing Kickstarter reward pick-ups, working the Festival’s Info tent with other volunteers, setting up chairs/tables, tearing down chairs/tables, setting up signage, etc.)

Skills Needed:

  • Organized, detail-oriented and creative

  • Strong multi-tasking abilities

  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills

  • Strong ability to work independently

  • Interest in the Arts

  • Previous event production experience is a plus (theater, fundraising events, etc.)

  • Experience with Google Drive, Excel, etc.
