John C. Lyons Mission Statement
A Little About John C. Lyons
Producer, Writer, Director and Teaching Artist John is unafraid of professional challenges. He programs quality cinema for FILM at the Erie Art Museum, and the Edinboro Film Series. He serves as the Executive Director of the non-profit Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania. His efforts brought attention to local media resulting in Erie Reader Erie's 40 Under 40 Award, Young Erie Professionals Generation-E Award, Erie Times-News People of the Year Award, and Erie Readerʼs “Best Filmmaker” Award. John has written, directed and produced two feature films and two short documentaries. His features "Schism" and "There Are No Goodbyes" received Best Screenplay at Directorʼs Chair Film Festival, and the Purple Heart Filmmaker Award at Zero Film Festival Los Angeles. John served as Erie Arts & Culture's teaching artist on the multi-year student documentary project "150 Years of Kane: A Student Journey". John's third feature, a fracking horror film titled "Unearth", is currently in pre-production. He is also working with Erie Arts & Culture, Erie Philharmonic and the Downtown YMCA on a new student documentary project to be released in late-2017.
