With a love of fashion, animal welfare, and baking, she's proving that artistry can be practiced in a multitude of different disciplines and avenues. Her dedication to giving back also demonstrates that philanthropy is best served genuinely, as she's found a way to merge her dedication for animal welfare with her creative expression via baking sweet goods. She's recently been listed as one of Erie's Top 40 Under 40 recipients, and it's a well-deserved recognition for this young powerhouse.

Her live performance series, Express Yourself On The Mic, has granted many Spoken Word and Written Word Artists to find a home on stage amongst likeminded and openminded listeners. As a writer, she has also inspired many through her creativity and empowered her fans to dig deep within to express their deepest truths. I had the pleasure of getting to know this powerhouse of a person during our interview, learning her ambitions and passion behind pushing the initiative to heighten the awareness and appreciation of Word Art.

Every June, Erie Arts and Culture honors the stories, voices, and talents of the refugees who live in our beautiful city of Erie, Pennsylvania. This month, we are highlighting some of the various artists who represent this amazing collective, while also providing our audience with the new and updated New American Owned Business Directory later this month.

Dharma Gurung, the owner of Tandoori Hut, has provided the Erie area with some of the finest, authentic Indian cuisine that this region could have asked for. Infusing her heritage into her offerings has become her way of remaining authentic to her roots, while also inspiring the region to explore the Bhutanese culture. In our interview, Dharma expressed her journey thus far, allowing us a first-handed look into what it takes to build a business after resettling in the United States.
