Application Deadline: 5:00 PM (EST) Friday, August 28, 2020
Erie Arts & Culture seeks visual artists of color with strong portfolios who are interested in public art opportunities. Artists must be flexible, collaborative, and reliable. The Lead Artist(s) and Assistants will work together to create a new site-specific, original, and public mural for the Whole Foods Co-op (WFC), located at 1341 W 26th St., Erie, PA 16508. This mural will be part of the WFC’s facade revitalization and community outreach efforts.
The project budget ranges between $6,500 and $13,000, and will be finalized after August 15, 2020. The timeline for this project is summer and fall of 2020. This project is open to artists who are members of Erie Arts & Culture’s CHROMA Guild.
In July, the Board of Directors of The Whole Foods Co-op (1341 W 26th St) approved commissioning the CHROMA Guild to create an exterior mural on the grocery store’s east-facing facade. The mural will explore the intersection between food access and social justice. The mural project will be managed by Walter Ang, a member of the CHROMA Guild who is interested in arts administration.
