Erie Arts & Culture Seeks Cultural Ambassadors

Friday Jul 5th, 2019

cultural ambassadors needed

A Cultural Ambassador is a volunteer with a passion and desire to showcase the importance and impact of culture and creativity in Erie, PA.

Our most immediate need is assistance with cultural asset mapping. Cultural mapping is a journey to investigate, identify, and promote a community's unique cultural offerings. During the first phase of the project, we will focus on cultural venues/institutions and public art that can be found within the 16501, 16502, 16503, and 16507 zip codes.

On July 10, 2019 at 5 pm, we will host a volunteer orientation facilitated by Jeffrey Keeler, the Data Center Coordinator for the Erie County Department of Planning. Jeffrey will provide training on how to use a tool called Survey 123 (via your smartphone) to capture our community assets. We will also be trained on what pieces of information should be collected from each site.

For this round of collections we will focus on Institution, Venue, Landmark, and Public Art.

We meet up at Erie Arts & Culture at 9 am on Saturday July 13, 2019 and will put what we learned into action as a team. It's our goal to build a team of 10-12 volunteers so that we can complete this project in one day.

Please confirm your interest by sending me an email to [email protected] as soon as possible.

I invite you to share this information anyone else that might be interested in becoming an Ambassador. We will have several different opportunities for support.

Thank you,
Tiffanie Page-Collazo, Community Organizer
