CHROMA Meet up v2

The C.H.R.O.M.A. Guild is the Creative Hub of Resources & Opportunities that support & connect Multicultural Artist in NWPA.

CHROMA is an Erie-based regional network focused on building both individual and organizational capacity by providing broader opportunities for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the area’s cultural and creative industries.

This network is intended for any person of color living in Northwestern Pennsylvania that is involved in the conception, production, distribution, promotion, interpretation, or conservation of creativity and culture. Through this network, New Horizons aims to connect and empower artists, curators, critics, producers, venue owners, promoters, and archivists who value culture and creativity in all its forms.

In support of this network, New Horizons will facilitate a two-hour recurring monthly meet-up, starting in April 2019.

The meetup breakdown:

Two members of the network will be selected each month to serve as co-hosts of the event.

Co-hosts will be expected to promote the network among their sphere of influence to help grow attendance and participation.

These two-hour events will begin with 40 minutes of networking followed by 20 minutes of announcements, during which attendees can promote upcoming projects, events, or opportunities for collaboration. For the final hour of the evening, co-hosts will select one topic related to community challenges that they'd like to focus a conversation around. The objective is to highlight the issue and then generate ideas around what potential solutions may look like.

Group Benefits:

Membership is FREE and will allow you access to other multicultural artists in our region.

A network of multicultural artists.

New Horizons will work with the Erie Downtown Development Corporation and the Erie Downtown Partnership to secure space during each Gallery Night to host a show that features work by artists participating in the Guild.

New Horizons is working to secure funds to create an Artist-in-Residence program that embeds artists into municipal departments and community organizations. Artists who serve in residence will help to engage residents in creative ways and develop innovative solutions to pressing community challenges. Similar residencies can be found in cities such as Austin, Texas (artistcommunities.org/publicrealm-Austin), Boston, Massachusetts (artistcommunities.org/publicrealm-Boston), St. Paul, Minnesota (artistcommunities.org/publicrealm-StPaul), Los Angeles, California (artistcommunities.org/publicrealm-LosAngeles), and New York, New York (artistcommunities.org/publicrealm-NewYork).

This program will support artists as agents of collaboration and change while also providing increased opportunities to integrate culture and creativity into civic activities and community development.
