Local shoppers will now have a chance to discover and support some of Erie's refugee- & New-American-owned markets and explore many of their unique and delicious products in a convenient subscription box. Gone Local has teamed up with Erie Downtown Partnership and Erie Arts & Culture to curate new subscription boxes featuring snacks, treats, and ingredients from Erie’s local international markets.
Kristen Santiago of Gone Local, Kelly Armor of Erie Arts & Culture, and Dave Tamulonis of Erie Downtown Partnership have worked with each store owner to compile a new box every two weeks (8 total boxes), full of international spices, sauces, and snacks. “It's the perfect opportunity to try some products you may have never had or heard of,” says Santiago. Gone Local assembles and sells curated boxes of local goods and items from favorite small businesses such as Flagship City Press, Underdog BBQ, Romolo’s, and more. “Providing these businesses with a platform to expand the market for their products is one step toward supporting the many refugee, New American-, and BIPOC-owned businesses in our community,” says Tamulonis.
Each box will have 4-6 items from a featured market, along with an informational insert about the location, owner(s), and origins. Boxes must be picked up at the Erie Downtown Farmers Market (Perry Square - Erie Downtown Partnership table) on the following dates:
- July 11 (preorder by 6/27)
- July 25 (preorder by 7/11)
- August 8 (preorder by 7/25)
- August 22 (preorder by 8/8)
- September 5 (preorder by 8/22)
- September 19 (preorder by 9/5)
- October 3 (preorder by 9/19)
- October 17 (preorder by 10/3)
Subscriptions will be $24.99 per box. Payment links will be sent every two weeks in advance of pickup date. Those purchasing boxes must pickup on the above listed dates. Buyers can cancel anytime. A 10% discount will be applied to those purchasing all eight boxes upfront by June 27th. Boxes can be purchased at www.gonelocalerie.com/market.
