Artist, Teaching Artist
Movement and dance have always been a part of my life and my being. I have been involved in the dance field for over twenty years in many different capacities, such as dancer/performer, choreographer, company assistant, administrative assistant, creating community through improvisation jams, organizer and choreographer for the Florida and Nation Water Dance Projects to raise awareness surrounding water issues, and dance educator in Universities, Community Colleges, and local dance studios. As a dancer/performer, I have always found it interesting to be the conduit for presenting information and material for the choreographer's imagination and vision with the energy and intent the dancemaker is looking for. As a choreographer, I enjoy working with abstract concepts as well as narrative storytelling. In the end, as a performer or choreographer, I am looking to make connections, communicate clear intentions, and authenticity of movement and message. I find it particularly satisfying to make dancers for many different populations and to create dances for groups that effectively showcase the talents and gifts of those I am working with.
