Sarah started taking photographs when she was 10 years old after receiving her father's childhood manual film camera. She was fascinated with documenting her life and taking portraits of those closest to her. At 12, she learned traditional black and white printing techniques at the Art Center of South Florida in Miami.
Her creative background has always included photography, painting, drawing, and ceramics. She learned graphic design in high school as she attended Design and Architecture Senior High, a prestigious magnet public school in Miami's Design District. The balance of half creative and half academic classes built Sarah's foundation of being dual minded in her practice.
She attended The New School University graduating with a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design and a BA in liberal arts with a focus in literature, art history, and writing from Eugene Lang College. While attending university, Sarah interned with Annie Leibovitz Studio, Vogue, Oprah and Cosmopolitan Magazines. She studied abroad in London at Goldsmiths University.
Upon graduating, Sarah moved back to Miami, opening Maggie Knox, a gallery, residency and studio incubator with a focus on emerging female artists. She hosted several exhibitions and residencies annually - while also taking on several huge projects such as co-designing MADE at The Citadel, a creative coworking space, and producing 30+ events for IIIPoints Music Festival.
In 2017, Sarah moved to Erie, her mother's hometown. She was (is) excited to be part of the growing creative community curating and producing events at PACA, working actively as a photographer, and continuing her creative practice. She is on the Board of Directors for NPAA (Northwest PA Artists Association), as well as the Director of Maggie Knox Western, her arts organization.
