Artist, Teaching Artist
My life would be greatly diminished without the opportunity to be creative.
Kathe has been sculpting for over 30 years. She works primarily in clay and bronze, but also enjoys the spontaneity and creativity that comes from working with found objects. She has degrees in art, art education and sculpture. Her works can be found in both public and private collections regionally and nationally. She has been with Erie Arts and Culture as a Teaching Artist since 2009, teaching in 5 counties and over 10 schools in the region. Prior to that she was a classroom teacher of middle school art.
As a Teaching artist she enjoys working with all ages, believing that creativity is important for all people.
Some highlights are:
Kids as Curators (a partnership with the Erie Art Museum involving 4th-6th students curating and preparing precious and personal objects for exhibition )
TAP (a Teacher Artist Partnership of arts infused curriculum)
Carpe Diem (an after school arts enrichment course for atelementary students)
TimeSlips (creative storytelling and art making with elders)
