I like to pack a punch with my writing; a sentence should come off the page like a swift right hook to the jaw. While I abide by the sterility of English grammar, I prefer to push my words around in the dirt a bit, polish what survives, and then turn it into prose.
I appreciate the occasional and impeccable malapropism, I like abbreviating words that don't need to be abbreved, and I find myself incessantly brainstorming good book titles and band names, hashtags and taglines, short jingles and storyboards.
I was born and raised in Erie, PA. I grew up on the beach where building bonfires, wandering around the great outdoors, and playing music occupied my time. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts and Sciences and a minor in English.
After college, I immersed myself in the world of journalism. Under strict deadlines, I wrote feature stories on anything from music, to politics, to organic food. I earned my own column, "Outside Voices" after my writing gained popularity for its visceral depictions, bold tone, and offbeat poignancy. Through the editing process, I developed a nearly crazed stick-to-itiveness, vigilance even in the wake of sleeplessness, and order amid madness.
I'm also a singer, songwriter, and guitarist for Fox Grotto (previously Falling Hollywood). We toured regularly from 2012 - 2016, even making it down to South by Southwest (SWXW), a massive multi-media festival in Austin, Texas.
Whether I'm wordsmithing over at my company, Ethos Copywriting, or I'm stepping on stage with Fox Grotto, the written word and the cadence that comes with it will always be a part of my life.
