Niagara connects people from near and far with Erie's maritime heritage. Through deck tours, public day sails, live aboard sail training, and 8th grade sail programs our crew continues to educate the public about her significance in U.S. history and shares the experience of education under sail.
To comply with the U.S. Coast Guard, Niagara is due for her trip to shipyard so that the required maintenance and repairs to her hull can be completed. The last time Niagara went to shipyard in 2017 cost $93,000. Captain Cusson has scheduled the trip for April of 2020 and is expecting a minimum expense of $50,000 for Niagara to be dry docked for 10 days, materials and supplies, and required crew to make the voyage and perform the appropriate repairs.
We ask that you please consider making a contribution to support Niagara going to shipyard so that we can continue to sail. By making your gift now, you can maximize your giving through the United Arts Fund.
