ERIE PLAYHOUSE TO HOLD AUDITIONS

Director: Kate Neubert-Lechner Choreographer: Heidi Sheehan Music Director: Andrew Rainbow Show Dates: March 20-21, 27-29, April 1-5, 2020. Please note, there will be a special private matinee performance for LECOM on March 22. Rehearsals begin Rehearsals begin February 1.

Synopsis: One of the funniest musicals coming out of Broadway in years, Something Rotten! Is set in the 1590s, with brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom desperate to write a hit play but stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Audition requirements: Please prepare a 32 bar cut of a musical theatre piece, with accompaniment (printed sheet music preferred, but we can accommodate karaoke tracks) that showcases vocal range and your ability to interpret lyrics and create character, as well as a one minute or less comedic monologue that shows character. Remember that Something Rotten! is farce, with flamboyant characters, so don't be afraid to show us all you've got!

Auditionees being considered for roles that require dance will be asked to stay for a dance audition that will include tap, so please bring tap shoes if you have them.

Casting is open to all ethnicities, and newcomers are especially welcomed. Crew and other volunteers are also needed for the performances. Perusal scripts are available in the box office for 24 hrs. with a refundable $10 deposit.

Open to ages 14 and up.
