Sensory Accessibility Training

Sensory Accessibility Training

Approximately 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). If you are wondering how your organization can create a welcoming and accessible space for individuals with sensory sensitivities, join Erie Arts & Culture for a Sensory-Friendly Workshop presented by Jumping Jack Theatre on June 17 at 1 PM at the Erie Art Museum. Erie Arts & Culture extends a special thank you to the Erie Playhouse for forging a connection between EAC and Jumping Jack Theatre!

About the event:

Join Jumping Jack Theater for a hands-on and interactive workshop on June 17 at 1 PM at the Erie Art Museum to learn how to create a sensory-friendly event for your group or organization. Sensory-friendly events are designed to be less sensory-stimulating and overwhelming. This approach often makes it easier for individuals who have sensory sensitivities, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who are sensitive to things like noise, colors, sounds and smells, to participate in social activities and community events. Participants will learn many strategies and gain the tools they will need to create dynamic and unique sensory-friendly events to better serve all members of the community. Participants don't need to do any preparation beforehand. We do ask that they dress comfortably as the workshop will feature team-building exercises and dramatic play/sensory activities.
