Artist Statement, Mural Making Process, and Art Style(s)

My mural practice centers on placemaking, storytelling, and community collaboration. I approach each project as both a visual design challenge and a relationship-building process. I begin by researching the site and listening closely to stakeholders to understand the history, identity, and aspirations of the community. From there, I develop concept sketches, often using digital tools such as Procreate and Adobe Creative Suite, to explore composition, symbolism, and color before translating the final design to a large-scale surface. Stylistically, my work blends bold graphic forms with vibrant color and contemporary composition. Influenced by both traditional studio training and digital media design, my murals often incorporate symbolic imagery, layered meaning, and strong visual hierarchy. I am especially interested in creating work that feels dynamic and accessible, pieces that invite viewers in while reflecting the spirit of the place they inhabit. Whether working independently or guiding collaborative mural projects, I emphasize thoughtful planning, clear communication, and craftsmanship throughout the entire process, from concept development and surface preparation to installation and community engagement.
