Ethnic Market Tours

Discover Erie’s Vibrant Cultures and Unique Businesses!

Discover the rich cultural diversity of Erie with our Ethnic Market Tours. Experience the flavors, stories, and traditions that make our community unique!

Erie Arts and Culture's annual Ethnic Market Tours offer an insider’s look at some of Erie’s ethnic markets owned by New Americans. These tours are led by local refugees, providing a unique perspective and enriching experience.

Our guides will introduce you to a handful of local businesses—some established, some new—that showcase the rich cultural diversity of our city. Learn about the journeys of these entrepreneurs, shop for unique products, and support local businesses while enjoying a rich cultural experience.

    • What to Expect: A mix of short walking and driving, engaging with store owners, learning about their cultures, and the opportunity to shop. Each tour ends at a New American restaurant for those who wish to stay for a meal. You’ll visit 4 - 6 different markets that represent Erie’s Iraqi, Syrian, Congolese, and Bhutanese-Nepali communities.

    • Parking: The tour guide will reach out to registrants 24 hours before the tour with meeting point and parking info. Street parking is available, with additional parking at nearby locations.

    • Duration: Approximately 2 hours. Each location will be visited for approximately 15 minutes.

    • Locations: Markets such as Almadina Supermarket, Palace Life African Supermarket, Fadak International Food Market, UK Supermarket, and more! Participants will receive a slip of paper showing the next location and an exclusive Refugee Owned Businesses Directory at the end of the tour.

  • Check back later to access your tickets for the 2026 season!

    • Sampling: Enjoy samples of food and drinks from various cultures.

    • Q&A Sessions: Engage in Q&A sessions with store owners to learn about their experiences and cultures.
