Raeann
Krugger
Artist Biography
Raeann’s journey as an artist began really early. At just two years old, she stood in awe beneath a four-story mural painted by her uncle in downtown Erie. That moment sparked a lifelong fascination with large-scale art and public storytelling. She followed his career closely until his passing, carrying his influence with her as both inspiration and purpose.
Her artistic foundation was shaped by dedicated mentors along the way. Her high school art teacher instilled the fundamentals she still relies on today, and her college professor introduced her to the beauty and discipline of oil painting, a medium that quickly became her passion. Driven to keep learning, Raeann later traveled to Missouri to study mural painting under another accomplished artist, an experience that opened the door to a whole new creative world.
Today, Raeann is best known for her vibrant murals that transform public spaces into places of beauty, connection, and joy. She loves how art can energize communities, elevate businesses, and invite people to pause, look up, and feel something. In addition to murals, she creates seasonal window paintings, promotional artwork, and custom pieces for both businesses and private clients.
Since 2021, Raeann has completed over 100 murals across five states, including multiple community mural projects—some of her most meaningful work. These collaborative efforts bring people together, strengthen neighborhoods, and allow her to give back by mentoring others, continuing the legacy her uncle began and passing that inspiration forward, one wall at a time.
Artist Statement, Mural Making Process, and Art Style(s)
I fell in love with mural painting five years ago, drawn to its power to transform ordinary spaces into meaningful visual experiences. Today, I work closely with businesses and private clients, painting both interior and exterior walls, doors, and everyday living spaces into works of art that welcome, inspire, and uplift. My goal is to create art that is both visually captivating and emotionally resonant. I enjoy pushing beyond traditional boundaries, exploring new ways to tell stories through scale, texture, and environment. My style ranges from clean black-and-white line work to richly detailed, realistic paintings. When I have free rein to create my own art, it's the best!! I primarily use interior and exterior latex paint, occasionally incorporating spray paint depending on the surface, condition of the wall, and level of detail in the design. I typically don't use a varnish, it's not necessary. I use house paint that lasts 10 to 20 years.
Most murals begin as freehand chalk sketches, though I also use a projector, an oculus headset, or a doodle grid for larger-scale works. Every process is thoughtfully chosen to best serve the final piece. Collaboration is at the heart of my practice. I spend time communicating with clients to understand their vision, create a custom mock-up, discuss budgeting, and bring the artwork to life together. Murals may take anywhere from a single day to several weeks, each one shaped by care, intention, and craftsmanship. Ultimately, my hope is that my work inspires a sense of connection, reflection, and joy for everyone who encounters it, turning shared spaces into places people truly enjoy and feel welcome.
