World Premiere Concert - Warner Theater

The Philharmonic commissioned African American composer Tim Adams to write a brand-new work on the life of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.  This world premiere will be narrated by renowned actor Harry Lennix (NBC’s The Blacklist).

This work was co-sponsored by an international consortium of orchestras including: Buffalo Philharmonic, Niagara Symphony, Akron Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Sewanee Music Festival and the San Jose Chamber Symphony.  Erie Arts and Culture is also a sponsor of this concert.

This concert also features African American saxophonist Steven Banks performing two different works with the orchestra.

This is a watershed moment for Erie and the orchestra as a new permanent piece is added into the oeuvre of classical music.
