10 Year Anniversary Show, Past Winners of Celebrate the Artist: Michael V Gmitter Memorial Exhibition Opening Reception
The student show is an end-of-year tradition at Edinboro. Created by Michael’s late father, Rich, along with his mother, Jan, and brother, Devin, the Michael V. Gmitter Memorial Scholarship was first awarded on April 4, 2007. It highlights the best student works of the year in a juried format.
The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a major or minor degree in the area of Fine Arts/Crafts (jewelry/metalsmithing, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, textile design, weaving/fibers, wood/furniture). Candidates submit recently created art or craft pieces for initial screening by the selection committee and submissions are judged based on artistic ability, originality, creativity, analysis of detail, craftsmanship, power of design and overall presentation.
