Why We Are StARTing a Movement The Dobbs case, i.e. the rescinding of Roe v Wade didn't just take away the right to choose, it opened the door to extremists to ban abortion in all cases, for medical reasons in the case of the life of the mother, rape and incest. Trigger laws are going into effect in nearly half the states, for example Wisconsin has reverted back to a pre-civil war law from 1849. The PA legislature is trying to do something similar but thus far has been unsuccessful. But for how long? Depending on the make-up of the legislature and our next Governor, PA could be next. This reversal of a women's right is not just about her right to choose, but about giving extreme ideology, men, control over women. Why? Because they can. Because we are not represented in the halls of Harrisburg or DC, because we do not have equal rights under the constitution. Did you know that while the Women's Equal Rights Amendment passed Congress in 1972, it required 2/3 of the states to ratify it. It took until 2020 to meet that marker, which was passed the time frame allotted in the initial law and the Republican congress has refused to extend the timeframe and ratify. In the year 2022, 50 years after its initial passage, women still do NOT have constitutional equal rights!
