THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF
The Old Maid and the Thief was written in 1939 to be performed on the radio. Menotti fashioned it as a cautionary tale about twisted human morals: “The devil couldn’t do what a woman can - make a thief of an honest man!” Members of the D’Angelo Opera Theatre will perform the opera using a radio station as the backdrop. Sound effects will be done with wash boards, crumpled paper and various other found objects.
